Why did you get into sales?
For me it was because a buddy of mine suddenly started showing up in a brand new car, wearing some really nice suits and clearly showing signs of having quite a lot of money! I asked what he did and he told me he was a sales rep.
I didn’t even know it was a job!
Lightbulb moment!
Immediately I started applying for jobs and was lucky enough to be employed in a direct sales role at Xerox (probably one of the best companies in the world to learn sales).
But there is more to it than that – sales has given me:
✔️ confidence
✔️ job satisfaction
✔️ personal development
✔️ peer recognition
✔️ the feeling of belonging to ‘my tribe’
✔️ life skills (time management, negotiation, dealing with difficult people)
✔️ the ability to function well under pressure
Yes of course the money is fabulous, but it’s really not the only thing.
